Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the IPL and WTC final; fingers crossed for the October ODI World Cup.

It is believed that the fast bowler would require surgery, which might sideline him for at least five months.

Jasprit Bumrah, a top player for Team India and the Mumbai Indians, has been ruled out of the 2018 IPL season and the World Test Championship final, which begins on 7 June if India qualify.

The Indian team management is confident that the bowler would recover in time for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup in India in October and November.

The fast bowler has been sidelined since August 2022, missing multiple T20I series as well as the Asia Cup. He recovered in time to play two T20Is against Australia, but worsened his injury, missed the T20 World Cup, and is yet to return since.

The Indian board had named Bumrah for the Sri Lanka series in January, but immediately withdrew his name, citing the fast bowler's "need for further time to develop bowling resilience."

According to reports, Bumrah experienced soreness after bowling for a few hours and was sent back to the NCA. The team management had hoped he would be able to play in the final two Tests against Australia, but Bumrah continued to complain of back pain.

Back issues are nothing new for India's premier fast-bowler. His present ailment is his longest absence, but he was sidelined for three months in 2019-20 after sustaining a stress fracture in his lower back.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh suggested that Indian cricketers require a rest period, given that they have been playing nonstop for the previous many years.
